Babbage Jubilee Celebration
Celebrating 75 years of business in NZ
On 3 November 2011, Babbage and our guests - clients and staff past and present - will be marking 75 years of business in New Zealand with a celebration at the Voyager New Zealand Maritime Museum on Auckland's waterfront.
Vincent Heeringa will start the celebrations for us. Vincent is "the voice of the creative economy" and an advocate for creativity and innovation, and its commercial value, something that Babbage also believes strongly in.
Babbage undertook the structural engineering for the multi-award winning extension of the Maritime Museum, which opened last year, and so it is a fitting location for our jubilee celebrations. Over our lifetime Babbage has had a great influence on the built environment around New Zealand - something that many will not be aware of. Every day tens of thousands of New Zealanders drive on roads or pass buildings and structures that Babbage has played a key part in the design of.
At the event, a publication to mark 75 years of Babbage will be launched that explores this influence. Titled "The Difference", it gives an insight into Babbage projects over the years, the challenges they presented and the creative solutions supplied. From gas pipelines to major slip prevention and stabilisation, new schools to heritage buildings, "The Difference" illustrates the work undertaken by Babbage without fanfare or fuss over its lifetime.
We are very proud of this heritage, but most of all, we look forward to working with our clients to create new facilities, structures, buildings, systems and environments that serve New Zealanders well into the future.
