New FIH Standard Hockey Pitch for West Auckland

April saw the opening of a new year-round, artificial hockey pitch at Henderson High School.  The new pitch, which was commissioned by the Waitakere Regional Hockey Turf Trust, has provided the west Auckland hockey community with its first full-scale, floodlit artificial pitch to FIH standards. 

Babbage Civil Engineering designed the pitch, together with expertise from Babbage Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering to provide irrigation with water recycling facilities and floodlighting.  

The pitch was officially opened on 10 April 2011 with the Black Sticks and Babbage staff in attendance.

Babbage has been working at Henderson High School for over 10 years and knows the school well.  Future plans on the site for the Trust include the addition of a training pitch and sports pavilion, additionally utilising our Architecture and Sports Facility Development teams.
