Mangawhai Museum Update
Charity project nearing completion
The New Year brought further progress on the new building to house the Mangawhai Museum.
As the photos show, the exterior of the museum on Molesworth Drive is close to completion and landscaping has commenced.
As reported on the Mangawhai Museum's website, they are starting to install the cable trays for lighting and work on partitions in the foyer area. The basement storage area is also beginning to take shape.
The building is progressing as donations allow and there are still opportunities to donate to support the completion of the interior, designed by museum exhibition specialist Chris Currie.
The building, designed by Babbage Architecture and Structural Engineering, takes its inspiration from the large wings of the stringray. This local sea creature is the emblem of the Historical Society and the origin of the town's name.
Once complete, the museum will tell the history of Mangawhai Harbour.
