Matt Harris

Associate Principal, South Island Business Manager

Matt believes success is built on a reputation for excellence and on building relationships – listening to the client, giving expert advice and getting results.

Matt, who became business manager at Babbage Consultants’ Christchurch office in late 2017, has an established international background both as a leader and as a structural and civil engineer. He built his expertise in professional consultancy management, structural/earthquake engineering and “smart city” development – sustainable urban infrastructure planning and engineering.

He gained his degree in civil engineering from the University of Plymouth, England, in 1996, came to New Zealand on a backpacking trip in 1998 – and stayed. Christchurch has been his home city since 2004, punctuated by stints overseas, mainly in Singapore.

Matt says the key to expanding the consultancy’s services is building on the company’s record – which is based on skill, commitment and innovation – and trusted relationships where Babbage manages risk and adds value for clients.
