Richard Stretton talks electric conversion for dairy industry.

Richard Stretton, Manager of Babbage's Process and Services Engineering department has recently been interviewed by media outlets on the shift of dairy manufacturing facilities to electric powered boiler systems, away from the traditional coal burning based systems that have previously been favoured.

The newest project that Richard and his team are working on, will allow Synlait Milk to achieve a move away from use of coal at it's Dunsdandel operations in Canterbury.  The Babbage Process and Services Engineering team have also worked on other electric builds or conversions for Fonterra and Yashili, throughout the country.

Richard talks to both scoop.co.nz and Radio NZ on the need for increased electricity generation and supply if the trend continues towards low-carbon energy sources in the dairy manufacturing sector.
