Leader in ecological and environmental advice and services.

Who we are

A recognised leader in terrestrial, freshwater and marine projects, Bioresearches Group provides specialist environmental and ecological services for private and public-sector clients.

Established in 1972, we are well known for our ability to integrate rigorous science with commercial imperatives to satisfy regulators, mana whenua and other stakeholders.

Clients rely on us to find solutions to often complex ecological and environmental challenges ranging from classifying indigenous habitats and designing and implementing monitoring programmes to predicting and mitigating environmental impacts.

In terrestrial environments we specialise in surveying and identifying vegetation types and protected or threatened species including plants, invertebrates, frogs, lizards, birds and bats.

In freshwater environments we evaluate stream health and habitat conditions based on water quality data and macro-invertebrate and fish-population characteristics.

Our coastal and marine projects include long-term native bird and fisheries monitoring programmes, sedimentation and contaminant effects monitoring, and discharges to the marine environment.

Our consultants have a sound understanding of all relevant legislation including the Resource Management Act, Wildlife Act, national policy statements, and regional and district plans and are regularly called on to act as expert witnesses in local court and Environment Court hearings.

For consenting work, we engage with clients as early as possible to provide information on constraints and build environmental impact mitigation measures into project design while keeping costs down.

We have now joined forces with Babbage and together we offer a multidisciplinary service that includes planning, architecture, engineering, land development and project management. The combination of these services enhances our ability to meet the needs of our clients.
