Who we are
Understanding what is below the ground is an essential step in deciding what to build above the ground – our Geotechnical Team of engineers and geologists looks below the surface to give clients the information they need before they leap into projects.
The early identification and assessment of geotechnical constraints is crucial to successful site development because in-ground issues can have a major impact on project costs and programme.
Our ability to design and implement practical, cost effective solutions to complex geotechnical problems gives our clients the confidence to proceed with their development plans.
Geotechnical engineering services provided by Babbage are underpinned by a high level of technical expertise, a focus on mitigating project risk and an ability to collaborate closely with other disciplines including civil and structural engineering, surveying, planning and environmental services.
A Kiwi-owned consulting firm established more than 80 years ago, Babbage has the skills and expertise to serve our clients from project implementation to project completion.
Formed in 1978 to provide specialist technical services, the geotechnical engineering team has a reputation for delivering successful projects on difficult sites across a wide range of industry sectors from residential to large multi-use and industrial sites.
Our approach is to understand the needs of our clients and to accurately evaluate and identify site-specific characteristics of the physical and chemical properties of materials under the ground.
We can then assist with site and development planning from an early stage, prepare geotechnical engineering and geo-environmental reports, assist in the development of integrated solutions to soil/structure interaction issues working collaboratively to ensure geotechnical aspects of the project plans appropriately manage risk and ensure project construction meets required standards.
