Engineering and environmental practice focused on South Island projects.

Who we are

Clients anywhere in the South Island can benefit from Babbage’s local knowledge and national reach.

Our multidisciplinary practice in Christchurch comprising structural, geotechnical and civil engineers and environmental specialists operates as a single business unit delivering innovative solutions to complex challenges.

Kiwi owned and managed, Babbage South Island works with clients on all phases of developments and teams with Babbage colleagues around the country to ensure clients have access to the expertise required to complete high-quality projects on time and on budget.

In business for more than 80 years, Babbage offers a high level of technical expertise across the South Island and has benefited from the acquisition of long-standing South Island structural engineering firm OTS Group.

Our focus is on the South Island and we have strong earthquake damage assessment and repair capabilities. We are also well equipped to design and build apartments, townhouses and hotels catering for the South Island’s growing tourism industry. On construction projects, clients can rely on us to think outside the square to provide cost-effective engineering solutions.

From dealing with the environmental damage left by previous generations, to designing and building commercial developments, we offer a one-stop shop engineering service.

Our environmental specialists have expertise in securing water supply, obtaining consents for wastewater discharges and remediating contaminated land.

Hallmarks of the services we provide include rigorous quality assurance and clear communication to enable clients to make informed decisions on project spending.
